Way too hard

most of the time the buttons didn't work when you press continue you end up some where random

You're not paying attention. It brings you back to the start screen of the area you're in (if you're on the overworld, it brings you back to the first screen in the game--if you're in a dungeon, it brings you back to the first room of the dungeon).
